Leigh Brewer loved dance.

Her passion engulfed her, as a performer from the age of four, and later as a choreographer, producer and teacher passing her love of dance onto others.

On her journey she won an award to study choreography in New York. While there she trained in Aerobic Dance with Jacqui Sorenson and Maria Mayta, and studied the Aerobic Method of Kenneth Cooper.

On her return to New Zealand, she founded Leigh Brewer’s Aerobic Dance at her Manhattan House studio. Teachers were trained in her programmes and established classes throughout the Wellington region.

For more than 30 years Leigh choreographed hundreds of dances, and taught thousands of classes using the ideas she acquired in New York. One of Leigh’s favourite sayings was “you can’t store physical fitness, it must be renewed regularly”.
